Guide to skiing in Switzerland for expats

We know a lot of information about skiing and all of the options you have for ski resorts in the Vaud and Valais area of Switzerland.

We found ourselves giving the same information to our clients regularly, so it made sense for us to condense all that helpful knowledge into a handy guidebook for expats.

So Dave and Jim sat down last summer and wrote down every helpful bit of information they could think of that would benefit anyone who has just arrived in Switzerland and wants all the details about where to ski.

Skiing in Switzerland

Included in our free ski guide is all this information…

● Equipment and clothing that you need to go skiing or snowboarding

What equipment you need and why. What works and what doesn’t work for a day on the mountain.

● Guide to ski and snowboard boots for adults and children

What will work for you and your family. What to look for when you are getting your ski or snowboard boots

● Renting equipment vs buying - where the best local rental shops are

Whether you should rent or buy for that first season on snow. Why you shouldn’t spend lots of money on brand new equipment straight away. Where the best shops are and when to visit them.

● Where are the best resorts close to where you live and what ski passes to buy

Where should you go on the weekend and what passes to buy. How to save money over the course of a season on ski passes. Recommended resorts based on where you live.

● How best to get to the ski resorts for drivers and by public transport

The best resorts to get to via public transport and tips on how to avoid the traffic and get decent parking spaces.

● What snowsports lessons are like both for beginners, children, how to engage teenagers and skiing with more experienced skiers

What to expect from your ski lesson and how to get the most out of it.

● Our favourite lunch spots in the region

Jim wrote this one because he loves to lunch. A selection of very good restaurants in the region run by our friends.

Of course there is much more information in the guide, it’s about 40 pages long and is full of
