Benefits of taking regular ski lessons

When we contact our clients in the autumn, they will often book lessons for themselves or their children for regular sessions each weekend of the season.

Some will book ski or snowboard lessons every weekend, some every other weekend and some once a month.
I could sit here and bash out some words on why I think this is, but I decided to go one better and ask them why.

Here is what some of them said.

Mark, who is a teacher at one of the international schools and lives in Morges, said:

“Lucas has benefited immensely from regular skiing lessons from the SnowPros team.” “Not only has he developed a love of skiing, but he has also improved his resilience and confidence too.”  “Dave and the team have been very patient with him, ensuring that he always has lots of fun whilst learning and staying safe.”

Lucas is a great kid who is now 8 years old, and we have been skiing with him since he was 4.  He was quite shy at first, but now he zooms all over the mountain in quite a fearless way.

Fiona, who lives in Blonay, skis with us about once a month with a group of friends, said this;

“My aim is to become a confident skier who enjoys skiing.”

“To achieve this aim, I need to make changes to my technique in stages.”  “It is impossible to take on too many steps in one go, this just demoralises me.”

“It’s much easier to make one correction and then concentrate on making this more automatic before adding in another change, and it’s essential to take this time to reinforce the change in technique.”  “Everyone loves positive feedback about improvements that they are making.”

“There is also a limit to what I remember from the lessons, regular lessons provide a reminder of what to correct.”  “It’s also too easy to fall back on what is comfortable rather than good technique, and a reminder at the start of the season enables the changes I made in the previous season to be reinforced.”

As you can tell, Fiona thinks deeply about her skiing and takes her improvement seriously.  She has come on leaps and bounds in recent years and gets around the mountain really confidently these days.  She’s really finding the fun in skiing.

Jo, whose son Robert skis with us in Villars and the Portes du Soleil, had this to say about his regular sessions;

“The routine of and exposure to regular ski lessons has built a solid foundation for Robert, giving him the confidence he needs to navigate and feel at ease in the mountains.”

Robert has been skiing with us for at least 3 years now, and as you can see from the comments above, skiing lessons aren’t only about technique.  They are about self-confidence,  growing as an individual and connecting with nature.
