SnowPros Ladies Weekday Ski Group

We want to tell you about an awesome group of ladies that Dave skis with on mid-week days during the ski season.

One group of local ladies drop off the kids at school, leave their cars in the car park and then carpool up to Champéry, where we meet for a morning coffee around 9 am. It is perfect as champéry is only about 40 minutes away for them.

Once they have got ready, enjoyed a coffee and croissant and bought lift passes we head round the corner and jump on the telecabine up to the ski area, it’s only 5 minutes for the 1000m to the sunshine and skiing at the top.

The session they have lasts three hours or so and we usually start off with a recap of what we learned before and then move onto the topic of the day. Dave says “I’ve been skiing with these ladies for some time now so they’ve heard much of what I have to say but I always make sure that I give them something different to think about each time”.

Apart from seeing them progress every time and the ease in which they get around the mountain now, a favourite part of our sessions is the lift rides where we have a chance to catch up, see how their life is going and what their kids are up to at the school. Many of their kids have been learnt to ski with us or have been part of St Georges Football Club that Dave runs. It’s great hearing about how well (and how quickly!) they are growing up.

Later on in the session, we move into more of a focus on individual technique and each one of the group will have their own little technique quirks (like we all do) that we are working on and we move through a number of little adjustments that make all the difference.

Before long, it’s time for lunch and depending on how soon they have to get back and what they fancy. Normally Dave would have reserved a table for them at one of the better restaurants in the ski area. He loves hanging out and lunching with the ladies and it keeps him up to date with what everyone in our community is up to.

After lunch, Dave heads of to teach an afternoon group and the ladies start to make their way back to the lift so they can get back down in time to pick up the kids from school.

The thing that always sticks in the memory after their session is how much they laugh and have fun when they are up here. In these weird times, a lot of the joy seems to have gone out of life and we can’t wait for the next session with the ladies to hear their happiness again.

If you would like to organise your own session drop us an email or send a WhatsApp to Dave.
