Why Choose Morgins?
Morgins was the very first Swiss resort in the Portes du Soleil and one of the original gateways for British skiers in the Alps. It’s a classic alpine village with authentic charm, home of Olympic Downhill champion Didier Défago, and still one of the friendliest places to ski in Switzerland.
Perfect for beginners – wide, gentle blue runs and excellent learner facilities.
Great for intermediates – plenty of red and blue pistes with quieter slopes than across the French border.
Snowboard-friendly – Morgins’ open runs and reliable snow make it ideal for riders as well as skiers.
Easy access – just 35 minutes from Montreux, 55 minutes from Lausanne, and 1 hour 45 minutes from Geneva. Parking in the village is free all day, with spots close to the Follieuse lift.
Ski School Meeting Point
Our main ski school meeting point in Morgins is on the bridge by the Follieuse lift, next to the Fontaine Blanche restaurant. Unlike many other Swiss ski schools, our instructors are happy to arrange alternative meeting spots anywhere on the Swiss side of the Portes du Soleil to make things easier for you.
Ski Lessons in Morgins
Beginner Skiers
Morgins is an excellent place to start skiing. Beginners can use two dedicated areas:
The Géant area – at the top of the village, perfect for bad-weather days.
The Follieuse beginner area – with progression slopes that lead back to the village on easy blue runs.
Beginner passes are affordable, with under-5s skiing free and discounted espace débutant passes available.
Intermediate Skiers
Morgins is a paradise for intermediate skiers. The variety of red and blue runs offers the right level of challenge, while slopes are often quieter than nearby French resorts. The highlight is the Didier Défago run, a hidden gem accessed from the Aiguille du Champey chairlift, which drops all the way back to Morgins village.
