Skiing in Les Crosets

Guide to Les Crosets – Why SnowPros Loves It

SnowPros Ski School uses Les Crosets regularly, and in recent years more and more of our clients have been asking to ski here. It’s not hard to see why — Les Crosets offers easy access, reliable snow, a wide variety of terrain, and direct connections into the French side of the Portes du Soleil. Here’s why our Ski Instructors in Les Crosets love teaching here.

Easy Access and Multiple Entry Points

Les Crosets is simple to reach. Drive up from Monthey through Val-d’Illiez and continue directly to the village. There’s plenty of parking, both above and underground — pro tip: head straight to the underground car park at the entrance of the village, park by the stairs, and you’ll pop up right next to the ticket office.

For families with young children, the beginner slope sits right by the village entrance, and you can often park (for free) just metres from the lifts.

You don’t even need to drive all the way up to Les Crosets. The resort is also accessible via the Champéry–Planachaux cable car or the Grand Paradis lift, though you’ll need to be able to ski to connect from those access points.

Altitude and Snow Reliability

At 1,672m, Les Crosets is one of the most snow-sure resorts on the Swiss side of the Portes du Soleil. Snow often arrives early, and in recent seasons our team has been skiing here from late November.

The lifts rise to 2,277m at Mossettes — the highest point on the Swiss side — and recent snowmaking investments, including a large reservoir, ensure reliable coverage all season. Even the beginner slopes in the village benefit from this altitude, making them consistently skiable.

Wide Range of Slopes

Les Crosets has one of the broadest selections of terrain in the Swiss Portes du Soleil, making it a great base for Ski Lessons in Les Crosets:

  • Beginners – enjoy a long, wide learning slope and the famous “purple loop,” a gentle progression onto real pistes with other skiers, perfect for building confidence.

  • Intermediates – plenty of blue and red runs, quieter than neighbouring French resorts, and ideal for honing skills with a Ski Instructor in Les Crosets.

  • Advanced skiers – test yourself on the notorious Swiss Wall (La Chavanette), a legendary mogul-filled itinerary run that’s as steep as it is challenging. Approach with respect!

  • Freestyle fans – Les Crosets’ snowpark is one of the best in the Alps, with kickers, rails, boxes, and a natural halfpipe. It’s a magnet for kids and freestyle skiers perfecting tricks.

  • Hidden gems – don’t miss the Grand Paradis piste, a long scenic red/blue run dropping into a peaceful valley beneath the Dents du Midi, all the way to the Grand Paradis lift in Champéry.

Eating and Après-Ski in Les Crosets

Les Crosets has a selection of cosy restaurants and après-ski spots worth seeking out:

  • In the villageCabane à Sucre for crepes and casual eats, or Hotel l’Etable for an excellent steak dinner.

  • On the mountainLe Toupin serves hearty mountain fare with a standout fondue, while the Cookie Café at the top of the Mossettes lift is a family favourite with great music, stunning views, and a lively atmosphere at sunset.

Gateway to the Wider Portes du Soleil

Les Crosets is also one of the best launch points for exploring the full 650km of the Portes du Soleil. From here, a single lift ride connects you to the French side and resorts such as Avoriaz.

Many of our clients prefer to stay on the Swiss side for the quieter slopes, but having the option to cross the border and clock up the miles is a huge advantage.
