Ski School Champéry – English Speaking Instructors
English-Speaking Ski School in Champéry
SnowPros is an English-speaking Swiss ski and snowboard school based in Champéry, on the Swiss side of the Portes du Soleil. We run private and group lessons in skiing, snowboarding, and telemark for individuals, families, and groups.
Our Champéry Ski School is the perfect choice if you want expert instruction and quick access to some of the most famous terrain in the Portes du Soleil. Whether you’re improving technique or looking for a challenge, our Ski Instructors in Champéry adapt each lesson to your level.
Our main ski lesson meeting point in Champéry is outside Le Gueullhi restaurant, opposite the lift ticket office. However, unlike many ski schools, our team is flexible and happy to meet you elsewhere across the Swiss side of the Portes du Soleil.
Why Choose Champéry?
Champéry is a traditional Swiss mountain village with authentic charm and fast access to the French sector of the Portes du Soleil. It’s a fantastic base for intermediate and advanced skiers who want to cover serious mileage.
Great for intermediates – wide pistes and excellent progression runs.
Iconic for experts – home to the legendary Swiss Wall (La Chavanette).
Easy access – just 15 minutes from Monthey’s motorway exit, with large parking areas at both the Planachaux and Grand Paradis lifts.
Train connection – direct train from Aigle to Champéry station, just steps from the cable car.
Beginner Skiing in Champéry
Champéry offers some blue runs and quieter beginner pistes, but it isn’t the best choice for complete beginners. That’s why SnowPros Ski School often recommends first-timers meet us in Les Crosets or Morgins, where the learning terrain is more suitable.
Once you’ve found your balance, however, Champéry is a brilliant place to progress to the next level. Semi-beginners and early intermediates love the wide, cruisy slopes that make learning more enjoyable. Families will also appreciate that ski passes are free for under-5s.
Intermediate Skiing in Champéry
Intermediates will love Champéry’s red and blue runs, which are both numerous and relatively quiet. Conditions are often excellent in the mornings, softening in the afternoons when the sun warms the slopes.
In recent years, Champéry and Les Crosets have invested heavily in snowmaking, ensuring reliable coverage all season. One of the must-ski runs is the Grand Paradis piste, a stunning descent under the Dents Blanche that winds from the drag lifts above the Swiss Wall all the way back to Champéry. It’s a bucket-list run not to be missed.
Expert Skiing in Champéry
For experts, Champéry is home to one of the most legendary runs in the Alps: La Chavanette (the Swiss Wall). This mogul-filled monster is nearly 2km long with gradients reaching 50 degrees in places. It’s the stuff of ski folklore — but also a serious challenge.
Many skiers underestimate it, and every season there are accidents. We recommend only tackling it if you’re confident in both steep terrain and large moguls. For those not ready to take it on, the good news is there’s a two-way lift alongside it, so you can watch the brave (and sometimes the foolish) attempt their descent.
